- Kepekaan suatu mikrometer ialah 0.01mm.
Teknik Mengguna Mikrometer
- Memutarkan bidal sehingga objek yang diukur dipegang dengan tidak terlalu kuat oleh anvil dan spindal.
- Selepas itu, racet diputarkan sehingga bunyi "klik" didengari. Ini adalah untuk mengelakan tekanan yang terlalu kuat dikenakan ke atas objek diukur.

- Anvil dan spindal dibersihan dengan kertas tisu atau kain supaya tiada kekotoran di atasnya mempengaruhi bacaan.
- Bidal dirapatkan sehingga bunyi "klik" pertama kali didengari.
- Ralat sifar mesti ditentukan dan dihapuskan semasa memcatat bacaan.
